a twisted scheme
Kisaragi Yuu is a graduate student-cum-translator who learns about the various incidents regarding the demons and other such creatures attacking the people of Japan through an e-mail he receives one lazy evening. The e-mail then goes on to further lengths to discuss warnings and ways to keep oneself safe from attack, which leads Yuu to consider ideas on how to combat the threat. During the coming days, he conducts personal research on these attacks and finds mentions of some group known as SEES. He has no idea exactly what this group is nor was he able to find much more on the subject aside from the existence of said SEES, but he wonders if he will encounter them in his travails of balancing his studies with the other facets of his life. Furthermore, he wonders if his sister will exhibit similar powers as he does. Yuu wants to get down to the bottom of these attacks in his own little way and will try to find correspondents through the Internet and his other connections if he has to.
In other words, Yuu is basically doing the same thing as SEES, but is doing so independently, because of his past, he has no idea of the existence of SEES which firstly is freaking tiny and also is composed mostly of either "normal" (as normal as one has to be to be a part of SEES anyway) citizens or working-class individuals and students, so it is mainly a group of inconspicuous people. It is entirely possible that Yuu has encountered individuals who are a part of SEES without ever having known that they are a part of the group. However, Yuu is particularly open to the idea of being able to assist anyone who is invested in the elimination of the demon and shadow threat, regardless of affiliation and/or group. His main priority though is to seek out members of SEES because they are the most likely people who would understand his situation. It is possible for people of other affiliations or groups to hunt him out if they know anything about him especially if they have read Yuu's BBS postings to his translation group which talked about strange experiences regarding a spiritual connection (though he does not mention anything about the idea of Persona itself, merely the feelings it evoked).
Yuu is currently residing with his eldest sister in Hongo, studying in Tokyo University, though he is free to travel to other places due to his reasonable wealth and general willingness to commute to wherever he needs to go. However, he will not want to visit Akihabara due to his own personal reasons, so bear this in mind.
Yuu's translation group is called A.HIMEGIMI, and the most recent jobs his group has been receiving are translations of novels from English to Japanese and from other various Romance languages also to Japanese. If there are people who scour the internet, it is almost impossible for them NOT to have heard of this group at least once in their forays and ventures. Yuu has also provided an e-mail address in his translation group's site which is most likely where the strange e-mail sender found the e-mail, as it is not disclosed anywhere else on the internet for public display.
Yuu's basic and first objective to reach his goal is to try and find other people with which he can correspond and work together with.
