She lived in a rather simple but small home in Koshikawa, Bunkyo. Meili liked the location because of the local parks that were nearby, that and this place was surprisingly cheap. It was also the headquarters for Jie's Paranormal Investigations. Meili structured the house in terms of decoration so that the second floor served as her living quarters and the first floor served as her office. Meili was as usual, wearing her dark purple old style Chinese robe with a black sash. As usual they're two jade ornaments hung from the sash. Ornaments that contained her precious Panlongs. She walked down the stairs into her personal office. She locked the door so that no one would go upstairs and then sat behind her desk. Digging through the papers. There has been a lot of supernatural cases lately. Naturally, superstitious individuals would come to see her about these cases. Meili looked out the window behind her to gaze out at the rest of the neighborhood as well as the small back yard. She smiled as she drank the tea she prepared herself not too long ago. She enjoyed the quiet. Mainly because Anna was at school for this week. She usually comes over to stay and help at cases during the weekend which is always hope. Meili has on her mind though that she wondered where Tsukiko might pop up. She always seems to...invade the office so to speak. Meili stood up and went to a shelf and pulled out another folder containing cases she has done. Lately there has been a lot of demons lately and not just demons. Strange creatures in which she can only describe as shadows also began to appear. She wondered what was up, she was seeing demons since she was born but she hasn't seen this many unrestful demons herself. True it was great for business but it left her feeling odd. Meili turned her chair back around. Her desk in front of her, and a small lounge for her clients to sit in beyond her. She placed her finished tea cup and piled up the papers. She took out a book from the drawer. It was an old book on some of the local demons. She began to glance through the book until she then heard a knock on the door. She closed the book. "Come on in." Meili said.[/style]

The tall young woman’s eyes practically sparkled with her anticipation as she stifled giggles and gently, quietly with the up-most care, pushed open the door. “GEWWWD MORRRNING!” The little office practically shook with the force of her obnoxious and heavily accent English exclamation. -and then the poor little office shook again she slammed the pathetic little door back into it’s frame without a second thought. The minute the sight of Meili sitting at the desk with a tea came into her vision, her smile became even wider (if that was even humanly possible) and her long legs began the short trek across the room towards the object of her affection. Anna had tried many times (-and failed many times) to explain the reason why she found Meili so fascinating. Perhaps it was the fact she managed to stay so calm when the rest of the world was turned upside-down, or perhaps it was just because the young woman looked adorable in just about anything. But, regardless of whether the reason her fascination was shallow or not, a platonic feeling of affection and friendship existed that Anna cherished almost as much as her familial bonds. “Now, I know what you’re going to say. Anna-chan, you really shouldn’t be skipping school in your final year. But, it really doesn’t matter because I have nothing but boring classes today and I have something important to share.” she said, her eyes shining with the thrill of being the holder of important information. In one swift and practiced motion, Anna removed her small backpack from her shoulder and set it down on Meili’s front desk with a soft “plunk”. With deft fingers she quickly unzipped the back and removed a small folder from the bag and tossed it so that is landed directly in front of Meili. Then, walked over to peer out of the small window at the front. “You’ll want to look that over, it’s a missing persons case I….borrowed. All signs point to it being the work of a demon.” [/style]

She was shocked to see her faithful assistant, Anna Magnusson. Anna made another impact as she harshly shut the door. “Now, I know what you’re going to say. Anna-chan, you really shouldn’t be skipping school in your final year. But, it really doesn’t matter because I have nothing but boring classes today and I have something important to share.” Meili sighed as she closed book and placed it down on her desk. Anna was always a huge handful...yet Meili oddly enough wouldn't have it any other way. She was a very talented devil summoner, Anna's talent arguably near matching her own. True, her social interactions could use....some work, but Meili is not by any means in a position to speak about social interactions. Anna has her friend since their middle school days...yet Meili can't help but to realize that Anna might be...attracted to her. “You’ll want to look that over, it’s a missing persons case I….borrowed. All signs point to it being the work of a demon.” Anna placed what appeared to be a folder in front of Meili. She arched an eyebrow before then opening the contents. She examined it and then read the details. She took a close look at one of the sites where the person, a young elementary school girl, went missing. "We're going to investigate this, but keep in mind that you should stop 'borrowing' cases. I made an office so other people can bring people to us." Meili then went to a nearby closet and opened it to reveal her sword and gun. She placed then on her sash and then looked over at Anna. "Prepare yourself, we're going to one of the parks." [/style]

Noting how serious she looked, with that slight twinge of passive-aggressive anger she had when she wasn’t impressed with Anna’s back-door dealings. She smiled once more, a different one from her previous ones; a more half-hearted attempt at a wordless “I’m sorry” than anything that denoted actual enjoyment. It’s true that Anna’s methods were…less than legal, but that was they way she had been taught. Always use backdoor methods, hide your trails well and never, ever let anyone you can’t fully trust know what you’re up too. Anna snorted. “Yes, but if we just sat here and waited for everyone to come to us, it’d be boring. Besides, the police aren’t making any headway on this one. Barking up the completely wrong tree like they usually are, thinking it’s her estranged Father when he’s all the way in Nagoya, and he has a solid alibi. Really, are they that thick?”. The young woman’s contempt for law-enforcement was well known by Meili, but Anna never felt it unnecessary to take a jab at them when the opportunity arose. Now quite sure no one had followed her, Anna stepped away from the window and walked towards Meili. Watching her gather up her weapons then command her to do the same. It didn’t take long for Anna to get ready. She always had her COMP on hand and her quarterstaff had been conveniently stored in the same cupboard that Meili kept her sword. When she had gathered her things she went to stand by her partner-in-summoning. "Now, I know how much you love knowing everything so, here are the details the police failed to notice. Little Miss Shiko here is notorious for being a cat-abuser. I spoke briefly to a group of elderly people that do Tai-Chi in the park around the time she went missing and they told me nearly everyday she goes chasing them around with sticks or hitting them with rocks." she explained, her eyes now revealing a more serious expression. ”Looking into the history of the park revealed the place in the home to quite a few animal spirits. I’m thinking one day our little friend Shiko-chan when pulling on the wrong kitties tail and ended up getting whisked off as divine retribution." she concluded, rolling her eyes. "I hate nekomata, but I actually think this one was justified.” Now finished, Anna took a moment to look down at her quaterstaff and shifted the postioning of her hands. When she looked up again the same mischievous glint as earlier had returned. ”So, what’s our game-plan, Meili-sama?" [/style]

Police weren't equipped to deal with demon cases...though she does have an awkward relationship with the police anyway. Taking her forever to get her rights to wield a gun. "I hate nekomata, but I actually think this one was justified.” She had to agree...but a dead body turning up isn't going to look good plus her family assigned her to suppress demon threats. ”So, what’s our game-plan, Meili-sama?" Meili tapped the jade charm that was attached to her sash. Soon a long serpentine blue dragon was summoned from the charm and coiled around Meili. The dragon then slowly started to turn into a blackish lizard. A Japanese skink. She then took out a lizard cage from her drawer. She placed the lizard inside it and closed the cage. She then presented the cage to Anna. "We're going to have this guy track the Nekomata. Given my Panlong's ability to detect specific life, this shouldn't take long." Meili then started to walk to the door and on her way to the park. Since the two were walking she might as well ask Anna about her life anyways. Meili always find herself concerned with Anna. "So, how was school recently?" [/style]

She had been around Meili enough (and angered her enough) that lizards had been used as a punishing tool. But after reassuring herself it meant her no harm Anna’s face returned to it‘s usual grin. Reaching out, Anna ruffled the short girl’s hair affectionately ”You have a lizard for everything.” she stated, as she accepted the cage and followed Meili out the door. Being quite a few inches taller than Meili, she was able to catch up to her in a matter of seconds. The lizard cage jostled with her every step. They walked in silence for a few moments and Anna allowed herself to just enjoy the light breeze and company while it lasted. When Meili asked her question, she let out a huff of annoyance. ”Boring. It’s either too easy or too hard and I dislike everyone. Ever since you left I’ve got no one to talk too. -and you know those boys I fought with last year? I think they might be planning some stupid revenge scheme.”

During her first year, some delinquent boys had thought it would be “fun” to try and make a game out of flipping Anna’s school skirt, but she had shocked them all by delivering a rather relentless beating to their leader with her quarterstaff. The group of them had held a grudge since. ”They’re really stupid. I mean, I’m stupid and even I know they’re stupid. she concluded, crossing her arms across her chest and blowing at the hair in her face.

Anna let her words sink in as they made their way to the park, silently fuming as she her mind went over all the ways she was going to hurt them is they did try something again this year. She was so caught up in her thoughts, she didn’t even notice that they had already arrived at the park and continued marching off down the street for about half a block, before turning back and running to apologise to Meili. ”Sorry, I got a bit carried away there.” she muttered, rubbing the back of her head in embarrassment.

”Anyway, the last place the girl was spotted was over around that park bench. You see it? Over by the big yellow flower in that bush.” Anna said, pointing over at the previously mentioned foliage. ”You think it might be a portal to the demon world?

Meili nearly twitched at this. She hated the fact that she was only slightly shorter than her assistant despite being the older of the two. In fact, a lot of people are surprised when they see her. She heard some describe her as an old lady trapped in the body of a child. Meili knew she wasn't...mature looking but that doesn't mean she was a child! ”Boring. I think they might be planning some stupid revenge scheme.” Meili sighed as Anna described her Senior year. ”They’re really stupid. I mean, I’m stupid and even I know they’re stupid." Anna said cross her arms. Meili had to agree. Those boys were foolish. She remembered when they tried to flip her skirt. Wrath was inflicted upon the foolish that day, let's just say that. They arrived at the park, Anna apologizing for her mind wandering off toward her thoughts of frustration. Meili looked around the area as she continued to hold on to the lizard cage. Anna started to give more details. ”Anyway, the last place the girl was spotted was over around that park bench. You see it? Over by the big yellow flower in that bush.” Meili walked over to that area that was pointed out by her assistant. ”You think it might be a portal to the demon world?" Meili thought about it for a moment. "I don't think so. Portals to...those places usually take place in very complex ritual known to very few. These ritual location usually refer to extremely isolated temples." Meili began as she bent down and then opened the lizard cage, letting the small blue lizard out of it's cage and let it crawl around the location. "However...there is always the worst case scenario that the demons could've easily made their own gate and dragged her in there. In that case, we are going to have to make our own way in which'll take time." The lizard then started to turn into a long blue serpentine dragon. It slithered around before then standing up and looking around. "This guy here has a lock on the girl I think...that or the nekomata. Ether way we're going to find our answer soon." The dragon went back on all fours and began to walk around crocodile style as Meili followed it. [/style]
