“Out of curiosity, are you normally this quiet, emotionally dead, and boring, or is this just how you act on dates?” Ringo looked over at Eriko as he walked down the hall, snapped out of his thoughts. Eriko arched an eyebrow and most likely bothered by Ringo's lack of response, that much he can tell. “Or am I a super-special case?” Eriko snickered.
"I apologize, I should've gave you a form of response. I was just thinking." Ringo couldn't sense an exit. Somehow, Persona-users can sense entrances to the Rift, that much Ringo is certain. He even heard more details about it from a member of SEES who fell in here. Ringo wondered how much further he had to go. Staying in these catacombs doesn't sit well with Ringo at all.
"..hmm..." Ringo continued to walk down the hall, hand in on his switchblade still. He then turned to Eriko. If his silence bugged her he might as well make slight conversation. "How long have you had your persona?" Ringo asked. [/style] |

Eriko could only sigh at the response she was given. Did this mean that the man called Shiro Ringo was so slow that he could not speak and think at the same time? . . . actually, for some reason, this did not strike her as surprising. She had already decided to follow him until a particularly good alternative reared it's not-so-ugly head. Of course, things were never quite that simple, as it seemed he wanted to play twenty-questions. Just a bit late, though. The time for pleasant discussion had passed the moment her not-quite-earnest warnings came about. Even so, the information he requested was not dangerous to give out- even to enemies. If anything, it would work to decrease their morale.
“There are two answers to that. One is how long I've had the ability, the other is how long I've been using the ability.” She did not bother denying that she had a Persona, as even this man should have been able to process that fact by now. “I've utilized my Persona for a little over six years. I've had it for twelve.” She paused for a moment, letting her words sink in while considering his abilities. If he was as active and pesky as he showed himself to be currently, then there was a fairly good chance that he made up for a lack of time with pure activity. Less than three years, she decided to herself. At the absolute most, maybe four.
“Is this the part where we exchange secrets and draw closer as a couple?” She asked in a sweet tone, her smile completely mischievous and doing not a thing to hide its true nature.

Despite the fact that Ringo's responses were very boring, she applauded him silently, in her mind, for one simple point: The fact that he was fully aware that the two would not mix. She was water, he was oil- she was free-willed, while he trudged so slowly to somebody else's tune. She could not see him as anything she could grow to like- even as a hero, he seemed somewhat lacking. Indeed, she would not consider him “fit” to have an interest in one of the opposite sex- or the same sex, if he went both ways. Or did he mean that he was actually gay, and that he was not able to have a girl friend? That was an interesting way to think. That was something she would have to investigate in the future, if she had the misfortune of meeting him again.
“That sounds about right.” She agreed with a slight giggle, seeming to relax a bit. If he would not respond to her teasing in an entertaining manner, then there was no need to continue bothering with it. For the most part, she had managed to tune out the heartbeat in the background. Despite how unearthly it was, it was nothing more than a mild distraction by that point. That might have said something to the girl about her mentality if she were not so far into her lifestyle, but it held little power over her in the present.
Pulses through her mind continued to bug her. Of course, this oh-so-great hero beside her was one thing, but there was something else in near proximity. Her pace slowly picked up to the point that she was in front of Ringo. While she did not care if he died anymore, she did feel that it would be a potential investment in the future if she kept him safe. “Shiro Ringo, I will ask this once. How skilled are you? Not your strength- you displayed that. I'm asking about your skills.” She did not refer entirely to his Persona abilities, but, going by his earlier display of bravado, she expected him to do just that.
Slowly, she put her gun away. Placing her left hand on her right shoulder, she stretched her neck to the left, then to the right. There was no need to use a gun. She could tell what was ahead. Even unarmed, she could beat them. Fenrir was not required directly, though the strength he- or it, if one were to be picky- provided her was in fact needed.

Had this Ringo fellow finally wisened up, or was he simply so stupid that he could not fully understand her question? Or. . . was that really all that he could do? The last was excusable. The first was preferable. The middle option was more than a little worrisome. Deciding it was the first, she let the issue slide, closing her eyes as her lips curled into a mischievous smile. He wanted to know where she obtained her gun? Did he really have expectations of a straight answer? From a young lady that had yet to even give him her name? Laughable. No, amusing. Her pace gradually slowed as she turned around, staring down at the hero-wannabe.
“There's many ways to address something like that. First,” She extended the index finger of her left hand, “it's exceedingly rude to pry into a girl's secrets.” She giggled, obviously amused. “Though, going past that and getting serious, it's really irrelevant unless you desire one for yourself. Legality does not equal morality.” She let her words sink in for a moment, fully aware of the stirring just around the corner. Smaller Shadows were beginning to creep closer to the origin of the voices. “Likewise, neither is law enforcement equivalent to absolute order. Anyone can obtain a firearm if they know where to look. Now, if you're worried about me and my usage of it, don't. Is my use of this gun legal? No. Is it morally sound? Yes. I shoot to protect myself, others. . .” She paused before whirling as one of the little creepers on the floor drew closer. Her foot slid on the ground, hooking at the Maya's mask, and launched the critter up where her hand gripped it by the mask cruelly.
“. . . and to kill little monsters like this one.” She finished, her strength more than evident. Much in the way that Ringo was capable to move more quickly than the average person, Eriko's boost in strength through Fenrir gave her physical abilities far beyond what someone with her body shape should have been capable of. What came next was somewhat brutal, though, given that it was not human, it could have been excusable- perhaps even to Ringo.
Sliding towards the wall, the young lady slammed the creature into the metal-stone surface. Once, twice, thrice, all while the Shadow's small arms tried to claw at her arm. By the time its senses- if it really had any- were thrown off, the girl hefted it over her head and slammed it to the floor where she proceeded to stomp on it. While the beast was, by no means, exceedingly powerful, the fact that the girl was so calmly squishing it, as if it were nothing more than a bug, was something that would have likely been considered disturbing.
As the Shadow's life finally faded, and the physical mass bled blackness until it faded from sight and touch, the raven-haired princess rubbed her show along the surface of the floor. Hopefully, the icky specklings of Shadow-gut-stuff would be removed.
Then, as if nothing happened, she turned to look at Ringo. Her expression was neutral. She was not happy, nor was she annoyed. She did not even appear to be weary after her veritable beatdown of the Shadow. “Ready? There's only a few more of those around the corner, I'm sure. You probably killed their boss a minute ago. It's unlikely that something else particularly big is around here right now. The way out should be there, too. It feels more annoying than you do when I felt you come after me.” She let that last bit slip intentionally. She honestly wondered what the young man would do when he realized that there were more strings attached to being a Persona-user.

“There's many ways to address something like that. First,” Eriko pointed. Ringo simply listened to what she had to say. "it's exceedingly rude to pry into a girl's secrets.” Eriko giggled. Ringo had to agree but he had to investigate this place as much as possible and she has more experience than he does. “Though, going past that and getting serious, it's really irrelevant unless you desire one for yourself. Legality does not equal morality.” That is...true. But he wasn't too found of questionable methods to solve problems. Then again he shouldn't be one to talk considering that he is leading a group of super natural fighters against the supernatural to defend humanity behind the backs of everyone he knows .“Likewise, neither is law enforcement equivalent to absolute order. Anyone can obtain a firearm if they know where to look. Now, if you're worried about me and my usage of it, don't. Is my use of this gun legal? No. Is it morally sound? Yes. I shoot to protect myself, others. . .” Ringo heard movement around the corridors and then drew his knife.
Ringo noticed a maya about to creep up on Eriko but she twirled around and kicked the shadow's mask and grabbed it with her finger's near crushing the mask. Ringo's eyes widened. If his persona gave Ringo great speed, Eriko's persona definitely gave her great strength. If Ringo were to get into a fist fight with Eriko, it would be evident that Eriko would have the harder punch.
“. . . and to kill little monsters like this one.” Eriko slammed the creature against the surface of the wall three times. Each time, Ringo had to give a wince. She was powerful, and this was her just using her physical ability. He wondered if she was utilizing passive skills just as he does. The girl slammed the shadow against the ground and then stomped on it.
“Ready? There's only a few more of those around the corner, I'm sure. You probably killed their boss a minute ago. It's unlikely that something else particularly big is around here right now. The way out should be there, too. It feels more annoying than you do when I felt you come after me.” Ringo looked over at Eriko. He blinked for a moment and then decided to pop the question that has been on his mind.
"Say...can your persona scan life?" Ringo asked. He wasn't going to say that he knows someone like her but none the less it intrigued him that someone has that ability yet at the same time fight so well as Eriko. "This would mean that offer to explain my skills earlier would've been pointless so I'm also going to guess it isn't perfect?" Ringo then remembered what the girl said about prying.
"I guess it would be rude of me to ask though, you don't have to answer. It's a bit of habit really." Not the prying into girl's secrets part but asking the questions. Ringo started following the way to the exit. He senses it even though he doesn't have the power of scanning. [/style] |

Good boy, good boy. Just keep letting information like that slip through your lips. Eriko could only purr in her mind as Ringo mentioned scanning life. Naturally, unless somebody had experienced one with that sort of ability, they would not think that a Persona was capable of it. While Akane's was not built purely around that particular ability, her Persona did possess scanning and tracking abilities that were pretty useful- that was why Eriko knew what the young man was talking about.
There were two things the man revealed. First was that he knew someone with scanning or tracking- or both. This most likely meant he was in a fairly sizable group; whether or not he was an enemy was yet to be determined by facts, but she had a hunch that he would not get in her way often- if at all. The second thing he revealed- or, rather, finally gave her complete reason to believe- was that he lacked the ability to sense the resonance between Personas. This hero was a bit lacking in information, it seemed- much like the underdog protagonist of some old-school RPG. It was somewhat cute, depending on how she thought about it- but it was ultimately somewhat annoying. She wanted to tell him off again, but she did not.
“You're wrong. On all accounts, at that.” She smiled coolly as she gently ripped his theories apart. Deciding to drop the act for a little, she smirked. “You also just revealed that you know someone with that ability. Most Persona-users would not have the knowledge that individuals with these abilities exist. You need to watch out, hero. That's some rather important information. Scanners- trackers- are valuable teammates. Let it slip that you have one in your group in front of the wrong person, and you- and he or she- could be deemed too large of a threat.” The girl clapped her hands together softly. Her attention was elsewhere- trying to get clinging bits of Shadow from of her hands.
“Not that I'm complaining, though- about your loose lips, I mean. Having information on people like you makes my life easier in the long-run. Just, if you would, remember that American saying. Loose lips sink ships.” She mentioned that last bit in English, her accent somewhat mild, but still evident. She felt like saying more, but left it at that with a shrug before turning the corner ahead. In a matter of seconds, rather violent crunches could be heard. One Shadow was launched from somewhere around the corner, slamming into the wall where even Ringo could see it.
Smash. Schlick. Gurgle.
As evidence for the young lady's violence- and for the Shadows' weakness- one of the remaining Mayas actually managed to get away- running, or sliding, straight at Ringo in fit of blind fear.

“You're wrong. On all accounts, at that.” The black haired girl smiled. Ringo stayed with his calm expression. “You also just revealed that you know someone with that ability. Most Persona-users would not have the knowledge that individuals with these abilities exist. You need to watch out, hero. That's some rather important information. Scanners- trackers- are valuable teammates. Let it slip that you have one in your group in front of the wrong person, and you- and he or she- could be deemed too large of a threat.” This girl was sharp. Really really sharp.
“Not that I'm complaining, though- about your loose lips, I mean. Having information on people like you makes my life easier in the long-run. Just, if you would, remember that American saying. Loose lips sink ships.” The girl spoke the last sentence in English. Ringo simply looked over at Eriko.
"What makes you say a ship? I might just know someone with the ability. It could be someone I just met once or many times." Of course, Ringo was lying, he was leading a group but that was a different story. "Besides, you already give me plenty to think about. You must have your connections to get a gun." Ringo himself stated as Eriko started to demolish another shadow. Ringo then noticed the maya crawling toward him in complete panic. Ringo drew his switch blade and sliced apart the mask and the majority of it's upper flesh before then kicking the remaining mass away.
"Now...back to the exit..." Ringo placed the blade away and felt the sensation that the exit was giving off. It shouldn't be too long. He looked over at the girl and then looked back. "I promise this is my last question for today...." Ringo began. "There was a murder incident that received very minor fame. I actually don't blame you for not knowing about this one. A girl was found dead two years ago, with the cause of death being unknown. Do you, by chance, have any information regarding it?" It was a vague shot but this girl has been a persona user for much longer than he has. There was a chance she knows something about it. But Ringo wasn't getting his hopes up. The case did go cold after all. [/style] |

It was fortunate that the girl had given up on Shiro Ringo as a genius, as his first words were nothing short of, what the considered to be, the absolute inability to follow and comprehend a conversation. Why would she say ships? It most certainly could not have been the brief explanation she gave just before saying it. It was truly difficult to keep a mostly neutral expression while mentally deriding and degrading the man before her. His further accusation showed that he was not only sheltered in the worst possible sense, but that he lacked imagination. Such an individual was not leader material. That was perhaps why he had come after her alone.
Actually, that made much more sense than anything else she had thought of about the young man. Perhaps he was just a mook-of-a-hero wannabe.
And then this man took the cake. No, he took the pantry, and the kitchen, and every form of possible good sweet- and anything else- with a question that she could not restrain herself at. Physically face-palming, the girl shook her head, sighing. Displeasure was on her face by the time she looked up. She was quite obviously annoyed. More than that, her left temple was twitching slightly.
“I'll be nice and not comment on anything you said before. That's the right thing to do. However, I honestly have to question you when you ask me something so bloody vague like that. There are two facts you gave me. The time was two years ago. The victim was female. The case was not in any way extraordinary- okay, I suppose I'll give you a slight bit of leeway and say that you told me she was a normal individual, without important family members.” For a moment the girl was silent, apparently trying to keep her cool as she took a deep breath. The man had definitely annoyed her with what she had already verbalized that she found his question to be nonsensical. “Not a name. Not an age. Not a nationality. You literally gave no information regarding the individual. Even if you brought this to a professional detective or informant, what the hell kind of feedback are you expecting to get when you tell them jackshit about the person you want to hear about?”
To be fair, her indignation was justified. She did work as an informant, but she did not need to let him know that. He, to this point, had no definitive qualities that were beneficial to her- or any apparent profitable background. Perhaps he was in a part of a group, but this sounded much more like a personal issue than that of a group. Having a single individual in her debt wouldn't do much towards having a proxy group to act for her.
“I mean, do you even realize how many deaths are reported in Tokyo alone? This is the most populated city in the world- over thirty million people are here! Every day, at least five people die. That's being kind- I honestly expect no less than twenty die in this small region a day. Now, unless this person you thought was important enough to bring up was nameless, I'd like to hear information- or was she really even important to you at all?” That was a jab. She expected a development. She didn't know- didn't care- what this girl was to him. Could have been a sister, friend, girl friend- whatever. Of course, that was only working with the word “girl”. If this person was in their thirties, then how would she have been supposed to know that? Notes: All aboard the spite train!

Even if you brought this to a professional detective or informant, what the hell kind of feedback are you expecting to get when you tell them jackshit about the person you want to hear about?” Ringo looked over back at the girl. She is reacting particularly strongly to the fact that she was given little information.

"You're right...I apologize for not giving you enough details." Ringo decided he might as well tell her some details. "Her name was Ren Ai, Japanese, and age sixteen at the time of her death. The estimated date of death was stated to be March sixth two years ago and the location was Yoyogi. If she was important to me is not relevant in this situation." He also thought it would be a good idea to mention the other cases, though he plans on revealing on two of the victims. Can't spill everything the police knows after all.
"This girl wasn't the only case though where the body was severely damaged yet no cause of death was determined. They were other cases very similar to hers. Such as ..." Ringo then began to detail the names, gender, age, and nationality, not to mention the locations of where their bodies were found. He then looked over at Eriko. "These are all the details I've gathered. I have no further details." Ringo finished. He wasn't expecting a response from the girl at this point consider she did seem frustrated with him. Though again, this just raises more questions. Persona, access to fire arms, not to mention particular sensitive when it comes to information. A criminal informant? He can't be too sure yet though. For one, if he had to estimate an age, she'd have to be around high school age. No way someone could have the proper training...unless special connections are taken into account. He can't say anything yet though due to lack of anything physical. He can't jump too far ahead. [/style] |

Eriko had not really requested that he explain his relationship with the girl. Just the fact that he was looking for someone two years after they died was enough proof that he had some tie to the girl. She obviously was not within the immediate family, going by family names, so extended cousin, or perhaps simply a close friend, was far more believable. Despite her inner musings about the young man's foolishness, she was physically more relaxed than before, slowly nodding, as if in approval, at his change in presentation. In truth, it was far more tolerable than that question from before. Still, she was not going to go out of her way to do his side of the investigation- and the information he did give rang not a bell in her head.
Though she did recall one or two or the other faceless victims.
Then, she offered a much more friendly expression. “That's much better. See, someone can work with that. Your first question was like me asking you to find some pet of mine without telling you the animal, color, or even gender or size. This, however? This is much more workable.” She neglected to give him a response, but that was intentional. “I will say one thing before I tell you whether or not I do know of her- you should already have an idea as to how victims like these turn up in this city, especially given the time of her death- time as in year-wise, not month or time of day, mind you.” That was the only hint she was going to give the man- and if he could not follow up that, then, by all means, he deserved to flop about hopelessly like a fish out of water.
“I know not the person, however. Circumstances are common. Name is not exactly rare. Individual, I've never heard of, let alone meet.” She finally answered his question as she stepped ahead and turned a corner, staring at a dark-purple opening in the middle of the hall, much like a hole in the reality the two were in. It was by no means large, but, extending from the floor to the ceiling, and easily wide enough for a person to slip through, the portal was obviously not terribly small. She turned on her heel at that point, cutting off the access to that exit- she did not want him to leave until after she did.
“So, will you keep your promise and make that the last question, oh great hero? Or do you have another query as the upstart adventurer on his quest?”

“I know not the person, however. Circumstances are common. Name is not exactly rare. Individual, I've never heard of, let alone meet.” That much Ringo shouldn't be surprised. Tokyo is a big city after all. In fact, it would be a little bit disturbing to hear that Eriko knew Ai in some way. The two finally come upon a portal, big enough for a person. “So, will you keep your promise and make that the last question, oh great hero? Or do you have another query as the upstart adventurer on his quest?”
"I promised this is my last question for today. I intend to not bother you with any more of my questions for now." Ringo then looked around and then looked back at Eriko. "Well...ladies first as they say." Ringo said trying to be polite as he refereed to the portal that lead to reality.

The man, she realized had completely forgotten about finding out her real name. It was all well and good, though, she figured. That simply meant that she could toy with him from afar, if she desired it in the future. Slowly, the young woman stepped back, obviously intending to move to the other side of the portal before stepping through. Her lips were curled into that impish grin that she donned so often. Slowly, she spread her arms. “Parting is such sweet sorrow, is it not? Were it under different circumstances, I may have even given something to commemorate this meeting. Alas, that's not within my power right now.” Her words were a little showy, and her tone a tad bit grand. “So not now, but perhaps in the future, I will give that gift.” It was an empty offer, in all honesty, but, at the very least, Eriko hoped it would leave him wondering.
“And if I hear something interesting, maybe I'll let you know.” She did not intend to meet with him again. It was unlikely that he had either the skill or the intellect to discover the channels she operated on in the web, anyway. But, having Ringo's name, the young woman could easily contact him if she needed to, even if he did not share his contact information. Certainly, if he thought too much into it, that might have raised some flags, but the boy was simply too paranoid- and too unimaginative. His total threat to her, all things considered, was minimal outside of a direct confrontation. Even then, if she could counter his flames, his potential was crippled.
That was something she needed to plan out, though.
“And, with that, I take my leave. Have fun, hero. Maybe you'll save me someday.” She winked before whirling on her heel and shifting out of sight. The clicking of her gun could be heard as it was put away, and, finally, a single heavy step propelled her body through the doorway before her. In her wake was silence. Evidence that she was truly gone.
Back in what she considered to be “reality”, the young lady emerged out of the side of a garbage bin. Lucky! Bad would have been coming out into the bin. Unsure of where the other side of the portal led to, the young lady made herself scarce, quickly stepping back into the streets and blending in with the small group of passerby. A shower was definitely within order once she got home, it seemed.

“Parting is such sweet sorrow, is it not? Were it under different circumstances, I may have even given something to commemorate this meeting. Alas, that's not within my power right now.” The girl said. Ringo simply looked at her and wondered if she was joking or not. Her words were very...grand so to speak. Then again, as Ringo learned from this trip, this girl is an unpredictable force so to speak. “So not now, but perhaps in the future, I will give that gift.” Ringo began to wonder yet at the same time a little worried what exactly the gift would be.
“And if I hear something interesting, maybe I'll let you know.” Ringo wondered how exactly this girl would go about doing such a thing however he promised that he would ask no question. However, he is under the possibility the girl could easily contact him. She knows his full name after all. The only name the girl gave him was Kuro, however it is up to debate if that is really her name or not.
“And, with that, I take my leave. Have fun, hero. Maybe you'll save me someday.” Kuro's last words before she exited through the gate. Ringo stared at the gate as Kuro left and then placed the knife away back into his pocket as he began to wonder about her again. So, it seems all this super natural chaos has been going on around him for longer than he could ever imagine. Ringo looked around one last time before heavily sighing and then leaving through the gate.
Ringo exited out of what appeared to be the side of a garbage bin. He stared as the portal for some odd reason closed. He looked up just in time for Eriko to disappear into the crowd. He then took out his cellphone. It seemed that he has to go meet his team mates still. He closed the phone and then began to walk into the crowds.
